2020 Virtual Leadership Camp

Dates: September 12-13, 2020

About our virtual camp

Because of the COVID-19 pandemic and the travel restrictions and social distancing measures that remain in place nationwide, Steve’s Club National Program will be hosting a free multi-day virtual leadership camp instead of an in-person camp this year. Though camp will be virtual, our athletes will still be challenged with tough workouts, leave with new skills and knowledge, connect with old friends, and make new ones!

The camp will be Saturday, September 12, and Sunday, September 13 from 11:00 am EST to around 3:30 pm EST. There will also be an optional evening program both nights that will run from 7:30 - 9:00 pm EST and allow participants more time for discussion about topics presented, to debrief the day, and to chat with SCNP leadership and other Steve's Club athletes from across the country.

The format of each day will be structured similar to our in-person camp and feature:

  • Inspirational speakers from the fitness community
  • Workouts with special guest coaches
  • Skill sessions (Olympic weightlifting, gymnastics, etc.)
  • Goal setting
  • Nutrition discussion and cooking skills
  • Yoga, meditation and breathwork
  • And MORE!

Registration details

ANY current Steve’s Club athlete that’s middle or high school-aged, or a previous graduate (alumni) of a Steve’s Club program, can register for virtual camp - and there's no need for them to leave their home, city or state! There is also no limit to the number of Steve’s Club athletes that can attend, so we encourage any and everyone to join!

Every athlete that registers will receive a camp care package that will be shipped directly to their home and will include supplies to use over the weekend such as workout equipment, healthy snacks and beverages to stay fueled, a pair of cross-training shoes, a journal to keep notes, and lots of other surprises!

To register for camp, complete the short registration form. No application is required this year.

Summer Leadership Camp

Real Growth Comes When You Push Past Your Boundaries

It's difficult to continue improving at any task, skill, or job if you stay within your comfort zone. Much like a diamond is created through pressure, we all grow when we experience a healthy amount of stress and are given the tools and testing ground to learn how to manage it successfully.

That is why each summer since 2013, a select group of Steve's Club athletes from across the nation are chosen to participate in a weeklong Camp at Fort Indiantown Gap, PA. They are the most dedicated teens from their Local Clubs, and are selected to further develop their leadership potential.

Leadership Camp is an opportunity for youth from different areas and backgrounds to grow, learn, have fun and bond over hard physical work, problem-solving, and shared experiences. This sleep away experience, hosted at a military facility, is a total change of environment for these kids, most of whom never have a chance to leave their neighborhood. This helps to facilitate a change in their behavior, gets them out of their familiar habits, and provides them with just enough stress to help them grow.

They're exposed to workouts, workshops, team-building exercises, and journaling that help them learn to handle adverse situations. They work specifically on mental toughness, grit, perseverance, self-talk, goal setting, nutrition, emotional intelligence, and overcoming challenges.

Led by Steve's Club staff and volunteer guest coaches, including former Olympians, elite athletes, CrossFit Seminar staff, military personnel, first responders, and Local Steve’s Club leaders, these at-risk teens learn lessons needed to be successful in life.

While participating in Obstacle Courses, hiking, kayaking, along with traditional functional fitness workouts, Olympic lifting and gymnastics clinics, and a service project, the teens work together to accomplish things they never thought possible.

From overcoming a fear of heights to sharing some of the most difficult moments of their lives around the campfire, the teenagers stretch themselves and expand their capacity for leadership. They realize that difficult workouts, life circumstances, and current challenges are manageable. These teens embrace the belief that they can accomplish anything they put their minds to, and have the tools necessary to create a positive future.

These impressive young adults are chosen through an application process complete with a recommendation from their coach and essays of their own. And although Camp only lasts a week, the growth campers experience is immeasurable.

Leadership Camp is FREE for Steve’s Club athletes, which is made possible by our generous sponsors, partners, donors, Local Clubs, and volunteers.

We want to give more teens the opportunity to participate in Camp and continue their self-improvement journey.
